Seeding/Pairings: This is an all-in team tournament. Teams are seeded by using the Simplified non-football power points rating scale (pages 12-13).
Expenses: Tournament Director: $ 250
Site Director: $ 100 X2 (if hosting 2 Games)
Athletic Trainer: $ 50 X2 (if hosting 2 Games)
Ticket Seller/Taker: $ 30 X2 (if hosting 2 Games)
Scoreboard Operator: $ 30 X2 (if hosting 2 Games)
Announcer: $ 20 X2 (if hosting 2 Games)
Trophies: $ 81
Security: $ 100
Admission: $8
Pass Policy: The Region Council authorizes Regional Directors to recognize only those passes issued by the council and those issued by associations with official Virginia High School League affiliation. These are listed below, along with limitations imposed by the council. Proper press credentials will be recognized when presented by bona fide media representatives, along with picture identification.

Officials: The site director will secure officials, pay officials and submit the official’s payments on their expense report. (Site of higher seed)
Selection Meeting: Coaches should send nominations to kgray@hopewell.k12.va.us by Saturday, February 26, 2022, 8:00 PM. The All 3A Region Meeting will be Sunday, March 13, 2022, via video conference at noon.

Reports: Site Directors should submit your financial information and a check made out to “Region 3A” for the total income from the gate. Please send to the Region 3A Tournament Director within three (3) DAYS after hosting your game.
General Regulations: Basketball games will be played under the current National Federation of State High School Association Basketball Rulebook and VHSL Handbook. All Varsity games will be four 8 minute quarters. There will be no mercy rule for region games. Postponed games will be played on the next available playing date.
Facilities: Each site must meet the following standards:
-sound playing surface
-suitable crowd control
-capability of charging admission
-adequate seating
-appropriate lighting
-the home team must provide a locker room for the visiting team
Warm-Up/Game Balls: Provided by the home team.
Game Times/Schedule: Game start times will be at 7:00 PM (1 Game) or 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM (if hosting (two) 2 games).
Awards/Advancement: 1 championship trophy. 1 runner-up trophy. The top Team from Region 3A will advance to the state playoffs.
All-Region Selection: A representative from each member school shall attend the All-Region Meeting scheduled at a time and place set by the tournament director. Nominations must be sent to the tournament director by the set date on the tournament proposal. All-Region selection will follow the format of each school having one voter per selection, and you may vote for your own player. Coach or designee will have two minutes to talk about their player. Coaches will vote 12 players to the All-Region Team. The top 6 vote Getters/Players (Rankings 1-6) are 1st Team All-Region, and the next six vote Getters/Players (Rankings 7-12) are 2nd Team All-Region. Player of the year is the highest first-team all-region vote-getter, and a coach of the year will be selected. If the last player on the 1st team ends in a tie, we will have a revote between those players. The player that loses the vote will be the first selection on the 2nd Team. There can be ties for the last spot on the 2nd Team. NO PLAYERS WILL BE ADDED AT THE SELECTION MEETING, AND NO CONFERENCE CALLS!!!
