HCPS Announces Fall Virtual Learning

Good Afternoon HCPS Families:

The purpose of this call is to inform you of the school board’s decisions last night to delay the start of school to September 8, 2020 and to begin in a fully virtual format for the first nine weeks.

Our hope until this week had been to offer choice between a fully virtual model and 2 days per week of face to face instruction.  Unfortunately, due to a number of factors, offering in person instruction has become unrealistic at this time.

We have been clear throughout this process that our highest priority and greatest responsibility will always be the safety of our students and our staff.  We will continue to monitor data and guidance so that we can safely get our students and staff back to school as soon as possible.

We understand that this may raise concerns with both child care and supporting our students and families with on-line learning. Please know we are working on some options that we plan to share with you in the very near future.

We have a Facebook Live panel discussion scheduled for tonight from 6-8pm, where we intend to share in greater detail our preliminary planning for reopening.  Please feel free to access this on our Facebook page.  We will continue to offer these sessions routinely to provide updated information.

Thank you,

Dr. Melody Hackney
