Dear Hopewell City Public Schools Families,
Yesterday we informed you that an employee of our division’s technology department had tested positive for COVID-19. Today we have learned that someone who was in close contact with that individual has also tested positive.
In consultation with the health department, we have identified those whom the employee was with that meet the VDH "close contact" definition, meaning their exposure was such that they need to quarantine, and these individuals have been notified directly. We also are taking additional precautions due to there being two related cases and are suspending any in-person operations by our technology department through the end of the month. This includes temporarily suspending the operation of the mobile maker space.
We encourage anyone who interacted with technology department staff after October 12th to monitor their symptoms and reach out to their primary care provider if they have any concerns. Individuals can also contact the Crater Health District's COVID-19 hotline at 804-862-8989. If any individuals are identified through the contact tracing process, they will be contacted directly by the health department.
The health and safety of our students, staff, families, and community is our top priority. We continue to work in close collaboration with Hopewell City and the health department to serve the well-being of the Hopewell community. Please keep the health of these individuals and our community in your thoughts. If you have any questions, please let us know.
