COVID-19 Update

Dear Hopewell City Public Schools Families,

As we continue to keep you informed when we have an individual who tests positive and has been in our buildings, we want to make you aware that late today we learned that a staff member at Patrick Copeland ES has tested positive for COVID, and that the individual has interacted with other staff members at PC.
Because of this, we are closing Patrick Copeland ES on Monday while we conduct cleaning and contact tracing. We will then determine on Monday if PC can re-open on Tuesday.

We encourage anyone who was at Patrick Copeland ES this week to monitor their symptoms and reach out to their primary care provider if they have any concerns. Individuals can also contact the Crater Health District's COVID-19 hotline at 804-862-8989. If any individuals are identified through the contact tracing process, they will be contacted directly by the health department.

While these staff did not work with the child care program, out of caution we are closing the child care program on Monday as well in order to determine with the health department that it is safe to reopen after Monday’s investigation.

The health and safety of our students, staff, families, and community is our top priority. We continue to work in close collaboration with Hopewell City and the health department to serve the well-being of the Hopewell community. Please keep the health of these individuals and our community in your thoughts. If you have any questions, please let us know.
