DuPont 4th Grade Students Built Lemonade Stands and Raised Funds for School Playground and Garden

Dupont's 4th grade classes had a Lemonade War!  Stands were open on December 14th and 15th from 9:30am-12:30pm.  Visitors were able to purchase lemonade (flavor options included strawberry, blue raspberry, cherry, and blueberry) along with snacks such as blow pops, cookies, chips, and even homemade muffins. Prices range from $0.25-$1.00!

Fourth grade classes read the book The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies.  In the book, brother and sister, Evan and Jessie, have a disagreement and end up having a Lemonade War.  They work through adjusting prices, adding treats, changing locations and even franchising their business.  In the story, competitiveness was intense.

For DuPont 4th graders, there was some healthy competition, but just for bragging rights regarding which team raised the most funds for their school.  Fourth grade classes read the book, researched prices and recipes and built their own stands!  A group even got to go out into the community to shop for their supplies, making sure they stayed within their class' budget!
