Dear Students, Staff and Families of HCPS,
Just a brief note to thank all of you for the smooth opening we had in our district yesterday. We had no issues whatsoever at any school brought to our attention related to our position to maintain masking in the school division for the time being.
And while I sincerely recognize and appreciate there are two sides to this issue about which we all feel passionate, we came together as #ONEHOPEWELL on behalf of our precious students and the learning environments we hold sacred for them.
We will get through this together. Our local data is trending down as it is in the Commonwealth! We all want the same thing for our children, our colleagues, our schools and our city. I remain optimistic that sooner than later, we will receive the clarity and guidance we need to ensure we are able to follow both Virginia law as well the intentions of our new Governor's administration. In the meantime, I am eternally grateful to each and every one of you for your support and understanding as we continue our commitment to the safety of our students and staff above all else.
