Good afternoon, families. We have four important COVID updates.
1) Hopewell City Public Schools, in accordance with recent changes in guidance from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), is modifying our contact tracing procedures to focus on those cases with the highest potential for transmission. VDH has recommended these changes due to the evolving nature of the virus, the widespread availability of vaccinations, and the increasing use of home tests.
We are continuing to focus on tracking all positive cases and will notify each school community of cases as they occur, as well as keep this information on our dashboard. We will also monitor the cases and notify classes or groups if there are multiple linked cases. If you have a child who is currently out for quarantine, please contact your child's school to determine if there is any change to when they may return.

As the virus continues to change in the future, we will also continue to modify our guidance, taking the lead from the CDC and VDH.
2) VDH is offering a vaccination clinic on Thursday, February 10th. We will have vaccinations available at school for elementary students during the day for those students whose parents sign them up. We will then offer evening times for families. Exact times and registration details will be finalized and sent out early next week. Please consider having your child vaccinated - it is one of the best ways we can keep students in school safely.
3) VDH is offering a town hall on Tuesday at Luther P. Jackson Middle School 4255 New Design Rd. Dendron, Va 23839
4) COVID drive-thru testing will be available the week of February 7th on Monday and Tuesday (no testing on Thursday due to the vaccination clinic at the same time). All drive-thru testing is now at Hopewell High School and will take place on the following days and times. Use the links below to register.
