Hopewell High School and Patrick Copeland Elementary School Update

Earlier today we received reports of shots being fired in a neighborhood near Hopewell High School and Patrick Copeland Elementary School. Those schools were placed in a shelter in place status as a precaution (a shelter in place means that students were kept inside and movement within the building was minimized). This lasted for approximately 20 minutes until the police had determined there was no threat to the schools and that it was safe to return to normal operations.

This information was communicated directly to those school communities earlier today and we just wanted to make everyone aware. We appreciate your partnership as we continue to work together for the safety of our students.
