Hopewell Leads the Way with Enhanced Security

On Monday, May 8th, Henrico Superintendent Amy Cashwell and other members of the Henrico County Public Schools leadership team visited CGW and HHS to observe the use of Hopewell's new Evolv scanners. Staff from Charles City also came to look at these devices at HHS. Nearby districts are considering using scanners similar to what Hopewell started last month. The Evolv scanners have replaced the use of the metal detectors during morning arrival at both schools. They create a much faster and less intrusive arrival process that utilizes the latest technology for a more secure arrival.

The new scanners are the latest in new layers of security added recently at our schools, including extra school security officers, door alarms, and additional cameras. What is special about the Evolv scanners is that they not only enhance security, but by being less intrusive it helps set a more positive tone for the day, enhancing learning and helping high school feel more fun.
