Hopewell City Public Schools partners with First Student

Good morning! Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, August 9, Hopewell City Public Schools is contracting assistance from a student transportation company called First Student. First Student currently works with Richmond City Public Schools and numerous school divisions across the country to provide added buses and drivers. We intend to use First Student as a pilot program to fill in gaps with our existing drivers so that we can decrease the amount of daily double back occurrences and overall reduce the bus delays. Route 17, 31, and 32 will be the routes driven by First Student. Students will be driven by highly qualified drivers and the side of the bus will be labeled, “First Student”, instead of Hopewell City Public Schools. We know that late buses are a concern and we appreciate your understanding as we look at new ways to ensure we are getting students safely to school on time.
