Hopewell City Public Schools Releases a Statement on the Passing of Student, Jamari Howard

"Our Hopewell City Public Schools family is grieving the loss of our student, Jamari Howard this morning.  Jamari was a first grader at Dupont Elementary who lost his life last night after being accidentally hit by a moving vehicle.  Our hearts are broken, but we celebrate his short little life and the blessing he was to his extended family at school.  Because of the age of Jamari's peers, we are maximizing support staff at Dupont starting tomorrow, while we give parents the opportunity to personally inform their children of this tragedy this evening.  We are contacting the parents of Jamari's classmates individually by phone this morning, and have planned responses and additional clinical staff in place for tomorrow.  One of our school psychologists was on site today, to support the adults who loved and cared for him so deeply.  We grieve his death, but celebrate the gift he was to all who knew and loved him."
