Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week
JANUARY 22, 2018
WHEREAS, principals make a significant difference for students and staff every day, impacting the effectiveness of teachers and the achievement of students; and
WHEREAS, principals serve as educational leaders who motivate and inspire all members of the school staff and student body to engage in the learning process; and
WHEREAS, principals are entrusted with the opportunity and the responsibility of guiding, directing, nurturing, mentoring, and imparting knowledge to our children while they are at school; and
WHEREAS, principals work with teachers and staff to set academic standards and push students to excel; and
WHEREAS, principals must work collaboratively with parents and the community-at-large to proactively prepare students to be self-reliant and productive citizens; and
WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the Commonwealth of Virginia to continue to support and recognize the efforts of school principals who are positively impacting students, who are the future of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week is an opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of Virginia school principals in promoting quality education for every child;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize January 22-26, 2018, as VIRGINIA SCHOOL PRINCIPALS APPRECIATION WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
