Hopewell City Public Schools (HCPS) is launching work this fall to update its multi-year strategic plan, as the previous plan was created in 2017.


The new strategic plan will be written with the support of Gaston-Shaffer LLC and will provide a

blueprint for student success for HCPS through a new mission, vision, core beliefs/values, goals, objectives, and strategies. Performance indicators and measures for the plan will provide an opportunity for the school division and community to track plan progress through each year of implementation.

Monday, October 9th is a Teacher Work Day. Hopewell City Public Schools will be closed to all students. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, October 10th.

Hopewell City Public Schools is excited to announce that the VDOE recently approved a grant request to provide additional funding of 1.6 million dollars for its Balanced Calendar. We are proud of what we are doing and are grateful for the support!

Hopewell City Public Schools will be participating in the Hopewell job fair on Tuesday, October 10th at the Hopewell Community Center.

Teachers will be celebrated on October 5th from 5pm-7pm on Library St in Downtown Hopewell.

Earlier today, the Hopewell Police Department issued a press release stating that a high school student has been arrested for a recent threatening social media post towards Hopewell High School. We are very appreciative of the great work of the Hopewell Police Department and other agencies and their close collaboration with us throughout this process. Current indications are that this posting was a hoax and was not caused by bullying, as was indicated in the original post. With that said, we do take bullying seriously and will continue to strengthen our efforts to ensure all students are safe and feel cared for in our schools.
