New Safe Rider Identification Process

Posted Date: 07/23/26 (07:50 PM)

Hopewell City Public Schools is implementing a new Safe Rider Identification process for Pre-K (WLC), Kindergarten and First-Grade students who ride the school bus.

Each participating student will have a Safe Rider identification tag securely attached to their backpack. Families will also receive two matching parent/guardian identification cards. One card may be provided to each parent or guardian, and additional cards may be requested through your child’s school if needed.

Please review the following important expectations:

During the first two weeks of school, Kindergarten and First-Grade students will not be permitted to get off the bus with an older elementary-aged sibling. Families may submit a request to their child’s school for an older sibling to receive the student. The request must be reviewed and approved by school administration.

Parents and guardians who did not attend Open House will be required to present a photo ID before their child can be released from the bus on Monday afternoon.

Your child’s backpack tag and two matching parent/guardian identification cards will be sent home with your student on Monday. Once received, please keep the backpack tag securely attached to your child’s backpack each day and bring the matching identification card when meeting the bus.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we implement this new process. Student safety is of the utmost importance, and we appreciate your partnership as we work to ensure our youngest riders are released safely each afternoon.
