August 4, 2026: Hopewell City School Publics Delayed Dismissal due to Flooding

Good afternoon Hopewell families. We hope everyone is staying safe during today’s heavy rainfall. Due to the significant amount of rain, flooding has occurred in several areas. We are aware of the situation and are remaining safely in place at this time. Parents and guardians are strongly discouraged from coming to the schools until conditions have been evaluated and an all-clear has been given. Our Operations and Maintenance team is closely monitoring the situation. Carter G. Woodson Middle School was dismissed before the flooding occurred. All other HCPS schools will have a delayed dismissal, and families will be updated as more information becomes available. At this time, transportation is being delayed until it is safe to transport students.
